Why
does my first edition MIB Strawberry Shortcake doll have
curved hands? Was my doll reboxed?
|
| The
first editions of Strawberry Shortcake, Huckleberry Pie
and Blueberry Muffin Dolls were first issued with flat
hands. They later (in the same year) were issued with
curved hands so that they could grab things (example:
the Tricycle) If you have a curved hand doll in a first
edition box the doll most likely has not been reboxed.
The curved and flat hand dolls were sold in the first
edition boxes. Now if you get a flat hand doll in a
second issue box. I would say that the doll has probably
been reboxed. Also another thing that happens is
that people switch the heads. I know recently there was
an Angel Cake listed on ebay with flat hands. This isn't
possible!!! Angel cake is a second issue doll! Don't be
fooled by ebay sellers! |
My Banana
Twirl Hair Bows are different is that correct?
|
| Yes,
that is correct, the hair bows are different. One of the
bows has a banana on it and the other doesn't. Her left
bow is usually the one with the banana. So, don't stress
yourself out looking for another hair bow,
congratulations you have a doll with perfect hair bows! |
How many
1984 Peach and Plum Minis are there?
|
| The
only Peach and Plum minis are 1984. There are two Peach
Blush and two Plum Puddin regular minis and one Peach
and one Plum deluxe mini. The Plum minis are:
Plum
Puddin Holding a pencil
Plum
Puddin getting ready for bed
Plum
Puddin at a black board deluxe mini
The Peach
Minis are:
Peach
Blush with a mirror
Peach
Blush with a fan
Peach
Blush dancing under a trellis deluxe mini.
One thing
though, many people confuse the Plum Puddin Deluxe mini
(The mini it's self) and the regular mini of her holding
a pencil. One way to tell these apart is that Elderberry
Owl is holding an apple in the deluxe one and a pencil
in the regular mini. I mention this because although the
deluxe mini complete and loose is worth around 100
dollars, the mini itself is only worth around 30 or 40
by its self (Because it is easy to find without the
blackboard). While the regular mini is worth around 65
by its self. That is a considerable price difference.
Don't be fooled by an ebay seller that doesn't know the
difference, (or doesn't want anyone to notice that it's
the cheaper mini.)

What
other dolls do you collect?
|
| Currently
I only collect Strawberry Shortcake, but I do have
Herself the elf and Rose Petal Place dolls. I might
start collecting Care Bears and Rainbow Brite in the
distant future, but not at this time. |
What is
the difference between Kenner and American Greetings?
|
| Strawberry
Shortcake was initially a character on American
Greetings cards. They own the rights to Strawberry
Shortcake. Because American Greetings doesn't make toys
they had Kenner make the Strawberry Shortcake toys. |
What are
my views on deboxing?
|
| I
am a casual collector. I prefer my dolls out of the box.
(I like being able to pick my dolls up and get a good
whiff! LOL) I don't feel that the dolls were meant
to stay in the box for 25 years. But, I do feel that the
really rare items such as a Peach Blush Deluxe Mini,
that is still in the box should not be deboxed. There
are so few (if any) out there, that they should be
preserved. In real life I have a room of Strawberry
Shortcake and the majority of it is loose. But I buy
loose. I rarely buy an item and debox. And some items
that I want loose but only have in the box (like my
Peach Blush Berrykin) I have not taken out of the box
because I know the value it higher. If you collect
Strawberry Shortcake for an investment then buy boxed.
If your like me and will have to have your collection
pried out of your dying hands then buy loose and debox
if necessary. |
